Present Simple Tense
The Present Simple is used for habits, routines, facts, and general truths. It describes actions that happen regularly or are always true.
Structure
Positive: Subject + Verb (base form / -s/-es)
Negative: Subject + do/does + not + Verb
Question: Do/Does + Subject + Verb?
Adding -s/-es (for he/she/it):
- Most verbs: add -s → works, plays
- Verbs ending in -s, -sh, -ch, -x, -o: add -es → goes, watches
- Verbs ending in consonant + y: change y to i, add -es → studies

When to Use Present Simple
1. Habits and Routines
- I wake up at 7 AM every day. (मैं हर दिन 7 बजे उठता हूं।)
- She drinks coffee in the morning. (वह सुबह कॉफी पीती है।)
2. Facts and General Truths
- The sun rises in the east. (सूर्य पूर्व में उगता है।)
- Water boils at 100°C. (पानी 100°C पर उबलता है।)
3. Permanent Situations
- I live in Mumbai. (मैं मुंबई में रहता हूं।)
- She works at a hospital. (वह अस्पताल में काम करती है।)
4. Scheduled Events
- The train leaves at 9 PM. (ट्रेन 9 बजे रवाना होती है।)
- The movie starts at 7. (फिल्म 7 बजे शुरू होती है।)
Time Words Used with Present Simple
- always - हमेशा (I always eat breakfast.)
- usually - आमतौर पर (She usually walks to work.)
- often - अक्सर (They often visit us.)
- sometimes - कभी-कभी (We sometimes go to the park.)
- rarely - शायद ही (He rarely eats meat.)
- never - कभी नहीं (I never drink alcohol.)
- every day/week/month - हर दिन/सप्ताह/महीना
